National Chengchi University (NCCU) was founded in 1927 and relocated to Taiwan in 1954. NCCU has 11 colleges specializing in Liberal Arts, Law, Commerce, Science, Foreign Languages, Social Sciences, Communication, International Affairs, Education, Informatics, and Innovation. NCCU has 34 departments, one undeclared major in the College of Communication, 43 master's programs, and 34 doctoral programs. NCCU also offers 12 on-the-job Master's Programs, as well as seven prestigious International Master's Programs and one International Doctoral Program.
NCCU also has 10 university-level research centers: the Institute of International Relations, Election Study Center, Center for the Third Sector, Center for Creativity and Innovation Studies, Taiwan Studies Center, Center for China Studies, Humanities Research Center, Center for Aboriginal Studies, Center for Mind, Brain and Learning and Center for the Study of Chinese Religions.
NCCU founded its Chinese Language Center in 1992 and has been offering small-group Chinese language classes ever since. The teachers from the Center have teaching experience ranging from 5 to 25 years, and the majority graduated from a Chinese Language Teaching Institute (program), and/or received a Certificate of Proficiency in Teaching Abroad from the Ministry of Education.
In addition, the Master's and Doctoral program in Teaching Chinese as a Second Language was founded in August 2008 to equip instructors to teach Chinese as a second language. Besides the courses offered by the Chinese Language Center itself, some Chinese courses are jointly offered by the College of Liberal Arts, the College of Foreign Languages, the College of Education, and other associated departments. NCCU integrates its academic and teaching resources to provide high-quality Chinese courses.

NCCU Campus
The main campus of NCCU is in Muzha, Wenshan district, and is approximately 103 hectares. Located in the southeastern suburbs of Taipei, a fairly large part of NCCU’s main campus sets aside as a lush, green hillside. NCCU is also along the river side of Jing-mei and Zhi-nan Rivers and next to the riverbank park and some bicycle lanes. The hiking trails around NCCU have long been a hikers’ favorite.

NCCU currently has five libraries ( 2 main libraries and 3 department-affiliated libraries), a swimming pool, two gyms, and two dining halls. NCCU is also surrounded by restaurants and food stands that sell cheap and tasty food. Even though NCCU is in the suburbs of Taipei City, getting to places from NCCU is rather convenient. NCCU is close to MRT Taipei Zoo Station (brown line), and many buses stop by NCCU. It only takes 20 minutes by bus to get to the city center (Taipei 101) from NCCU. Life at NCCU is convenient and easy!
